Only the Echoes of My Mind
.
Here is the short film that PhRMA, the Big Pharma trade association, does not want you to see—because it beats anything on the shelf or in the pipeline at any of its member companies:

The Hagerstown, MD, Mummers Parade

An Ersatzfilms® production by Todd Groesbeck.

..and:
The Love Song of J. Alfred Groesbeck

Todd and Alice slipped through the Garden State recently on their way to points North. They contributed to the Grand American Road Trip Songbook with this short film about the Homestate. There is veritas footage of the Garden State Parkway, and Sopranos fans will recognize the pizza place. Lots of other Weird New Jerseyana and a very cute dog. The sound track warms up the exquisite Dylan/McGuinn grudge match from That Real Seventies Show.

Skippin’ over the ocean like a stone,
Vanx

Why is it called the Garden State? Did you see the movie of the same name (with Natalie Portman)?

I’ll have to come back and play the movie short. I don’t want to wake anyone up with the soundtrack right now.

Yes, I did come back! That was great fun! It makes me wonder why I don’t pipe in music while I work. I just got a new digital camera that can do movie shots but I don’t know how to add music (or upload them on the blog). I know I could get addicted to making them if I know how to, so I’m in no rush to learn.

I like the down homey easy chair home movie clips more than the glosssy Hollywood stuff. Real people are the real stars.

The only thing I didn’t get was the hockey mask. It felt like a submilinal flash message from Jason. Maybe because when my sons were little Jason was the scariest thing going for them and I took on their fears like only a mother can do.

The hockey mask is part of the flotsam on the back seat of the car, among the spent coffee cups and things my daughter drags along on trips. No message, she just put it on for fun.

The parade is *fabulous*! Small town Americana at its finest. Loved the “Alaska Club” float. And was that an actual tractor going by at some point? The highlight of many summers for me as a child was the annual 4th of July parade in our small Massachusetts summer town. Kiwanas Clubbers tossing handfuls of candy to the kids? Yeah, baby!
