Setting the Stage
.

I started arranging some of my still life subjects in the basement tonight. I haven’t painted since the lake trip, and I haven’t painted in the studio since weeks before that. I cleaned up the pumpkin that finally melted down on my still life table while we were at the lake, and I’m ready.

August has been a rather over-productive month at Verb-Ops. I had tried to take the summer, at least, off, and I almost made it though July. Then, boom, I went long.

Those weeks in July were restorative, though I really didn’t get much painting done. So, I hope to slow down on the computer (no Verb-Ops On Ice stuff) and start pushing it around in the basement. It’s all about balance

You’ll hear from me,
Vanx

Is that a turtle head in the front left of the picture, Rick? Egad! That poor turtle. LOL

It really IS all about balance, and no one (especially me) should begrudge you the time you need to get as close to balance as you can get (if you actually ATTAIN it, though, you need to call me RIGHT AWAY and clue me in on how you did it!).

Thanks for not leaving us altogether, though. The last time you did that was a dark time for me, indeed!

Oh, and I love the rubber chicken draped over the typewriter. It’s actually an apropos comment on the state of my current writing situation. No teaching job, no graduate classes - I’m feeling myself spiraling downward into a creative and intellectual nothingness. I suppose I ought to do something about that, huh? Sigh

This sounds a little like a Dear John Letter.

I like the collection of still life objects. I think old typewriters are very photogenic.
